Our Ginger Bread House

For the second year in a row, we have made a ginger bread house. This year I got one from IKEA, ware last year I got one from Trader Joe’s. We put lots of frosting and candies on it. Also we put three cat cookies one for each of our cats. We defiantly aren’t Martha Stewart, thank God.

A Very Geeky Christmas

Today we went out and got our new Christmas tree. It’s 7 feet tall and pre-lit fake tree, witch is easy to set up. So we got it up and decorated it with all of our Hallmark ornaments. Many of witch are very geeky, we have Star Wars, Spiderman, Power Rangers, and more.
Now that the Christmas season has started we should have lots more posts in the coming weeks so stay tuned for more.

A Visit with Uncle Tom, and Our Night Out

The day after Thanksgiving Amy and I got a very unique opportunity to go out without the kids. We made plans to get together with a bunch of our old friends, many I had not seen in 15 years.

We took the boys to my parents to send time with my brother Tom, and so my parents could keep an eye on the boys wile we went out. Rodney and David very much liked spending time with Uncle Tom. They both helped him set up my mothers Christmas tree, by helping him with the lights. Then they got to put up their Christmas bulbs. The best thing was them sitting with Tom in the La-Z-boy with the dogs.
Amy and I did go out as late as we use to, but it was still nice to see all my old friends, for the short time we were out. I can’t wait to see them all again.

Thanksgiving 06

Happy turkey day every one! I know it’s been a wile since my last post, but we didn’t have much to report. However today we do.

We went to both Amy’s grand parents and my parents today. We started the day driving to Amy’s grandparents to just to visit. We talked to Amy’s Grandpa, and Amy’s parents. Amy’s Grand mother was in the hospital. Wile the boys ran around like loons through the house, Shane (Amy’s bother) and I played my latest board game obsession, Dreamblade.

We arrived at my parents for dinner at 4 pm. Both Rodney and David were very excited about seeing their uncles. After dinner Tom read to them and Rob got the all riled up with horse play. My dad even joined in a little. And they love every second of it. Now that I have a few less hairs it is good to be home.

Up a Tree in Empire Michigan

This weekend we went up north to visit Amy’s parents and grandfather. We stayed with Amy’s Grandfather at the farmhouse. He lives on 160 acres of land with lots of trees for climbing. So the Rodney and David Had lots of room to play. They both loved one of the trees near the house and spent much time climbing it. They both slept well both nights and on the car ride home. It was a very peaceful weekend.

Good buy Isabel

On Friday we had to make a very hard decision. We had to put down our dog, Isabel. She came to live with us 4 years ago at the age of 8 she was almost 13 when she died. She was a rescued dog form the human society. She was very good with the boys when they came to live with us. We loved her very much.

And the Day Has Been Saved Once Again, by Super-Rod and Spider-David!!!!

Happy Halloween everyone! Today the boys had the traditional Halloween parade at school, fallowed by a party. Rodney was Superman and David was Spider-man. The teachers at the school were all great and seemed to really get in to the sprit of the day. The 1st grade teachers and one of the room parents went as the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. The kindergarten teachers and one of the resource room teachers went as Cat in the Hat, and Thing one, and Thing two. Both boys really loved the day. They both could barley contain themselves, much to our dismay. And now for days of two little boys bouncing of the walls from sugar

A trip to the IKEA store

Today we took a trip to the IKEA store in Canton Michigan. Let me tell you it is quite a store. They have a cafeteria with cheep but good food. The store opens at 10 am but the cafeteria opens at 9 am. They serve a good size breakfast for only $.99. So we got there at 9:30 for breakfast, and then went to the children’s section for a few minutes with the boys. We then took the boy to the play area; witch is supervised, for 45 minutes wile we shopped. We saw many things we wonted and more. The great thing was that you don’t have to drop of your kids at the play area, there playhouses through out the store for the kids. With so many good deals it was hard walking out of there with out a lot of new things, but we were good and only bought two new throw rugs.
If any one wants to or is going to there soon, I would be more than happy to go with you! Amber? Mom?

A Room Full of Dalieges, Friends and Family

This past Friday and Saturday I was with my parents and bothers in Milwaukee. We were there for the memorial services for my grandmother (my dad’s mother). Even though it was for a sad occasion, I did get to see much of my family that I had not seen in years. I saw my cousins Dawn and Dan, and some of my dad’s cousins. There were also some long time family friends who are very much a part of our family.

The night before the services we whet out with my cousins from my mother’s side. It was me and both of my bothers who went to watch them play kickball and the go to the bar for some beers. The next day after the services in the morning we all went out for lunch at what was my grandmother’s favorite restaurant, Mamma Mia’s. I still feel they have the best pizza and garlic bread I have ever had. After the meal and much conversation, Rob and I drove home for Michigan. It was a nice quick trip.
